Eastchester Eats
Fear Not Foodies!
If you’re considering a move to Westchester (the schools! The space! the easy commute!), but can’t bear to leave behind your local fave vegetable stand, fishmonger or butcher – it’s going to be okay. Really. As a fellow foodie, I do understand your concern.
But this is New York, people, and we have it all right here in Eastchester, the town which harbors my adoptive hometown, Bronxville, and the neighboring Tuckahoe.
From artisanal cheese shops to the fresh catch of the day, Eastchester has you covered – and you will find your favorite, freshest ingredients right here. Promise.

Mini’s Prime Meats
Monday to Saturday, 8AM-6pm, Saturday 8AM-5:30PM
15 Park Place, Bronxville NY
Old time butcher shop meets modern convenience at Mini’s Prime Meats. Owner Paul Chietro grew up in the business of offering choice, hand selected cuts of meat at his family’s butcher shop. In 2002, Paul opened MIni's Prime Meats in Bronxville, offering fresh, hand cut roasts, steaks and chops.
Now celebrating their 20 year anniversary, this old fashioned local favorite offers the modern families of Bronxville and beyond a variety of meats - freshly cut au nature or beautifully seasoned and ready for roasting or grilling.
My family loves the lemon chicken breast and marinated skirt steak. For special occasions and holidays, I often call in advance to order a turkey or prime rib roast – which for a reasonable fee, they will fully prep and season for you. Just roast, serve, and graciously smile and nod at all incoming compliments!

Bronxville Farmers Market
Every Saturday, May through Thanksgiving, from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Paxton Avenue parking lot, Bronxville
Spring through Thanksgiving, I try to go every Saturday first thing in the morning, if I can. It is such a great way to start the weekend and load up on fresh fruits and vegetables from vendors like Sun Sprout Farms, or try an array of fabulous pickles from Doc Pickle. You will find beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers, homemade pies (from The Nutmeg Cafe, Tuckahoe), and freshly made mozzarella, often with a live band adding to the charm.
